The rotor is a rotating component at the center of the alternator. It consists of wire windings and is connected to the engine's crankshaft through a pulley system. The rotor's main function is to rotate within the stator's magnetic field, inducing an alternating current (AC) in its windings through electromagnetic induction.

2️⃣ Stator:

The stator is a stationary part surrounding the rotor. It is made up of field windings that create a fixed magnetic field when an electrical current passes through them. As the rotor spins within this magnetic field, it generates an AC voltage in the stator windings.

3️⃣ Pulley System:

The pulley system connects the alternator's rotor to the engine's crankshaft. When the engine rotates, it drives the pulley, which, in turn, rotates the alternator's rotor. This mechanical connection converts the engine's rotational energy into the mechanical motion needed to generate electricity.

4️⃣ Rectifier:

The rectifier is responsible for converting the alternating current (AC) generated in the alternator's windings into direct current (DC). It consists of a set of diodes that only allow current to flow in one direction. This process is crucial because most of the vehicle's electrical systems operate on DC power.

5️⃣ Voltage Regulator:

The voltage regulator is a component that controls the output voltage of the alternator. It ensures that the generated voltage is at an appropriate level to charge the battery and power the vehicle's electrical systems without overcharging.

6️⃣ Bearings:

Bearings provide support for the rotating components, allowing them to spin smoothly. These bearings reduce friction and wear, ensuring the longevity of the alternator.

7️⃣ Cooling Fan:

Some alternators have a cooling fan to dissipate heat generated during operation. This helps prevent overheating and maintains the alternator's efficiency.
